You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?
I’m slightly pessimistic and sceptical 🤨 by nature. I wouldn’t say that they are great traits to have but it can be very useful.
If I receive unexpected good news out of the blue, I would always check it to make sure it is real!
If I’m hoping or expecting news that might be good e.g. I’m waiting to hear about my daughters driving test, I would congratulate her enthusiastically and ask her how she would like to celebrate.
If the news related to me, I would phone my wife and try to downplay the news a bit because I don’t like to gloat. If it relates to both of us, or the family we would share the joy and probably get a bit overwhelmed.
I’m fortunate to have had a lot of good news, the birth of two healthy children, good job news, good news about exams. Happy news about relatives. Yes, I also won £10 on the lottery once, but I don’t particularly value that type of news. Everything good should be celebrated.
