What motivates you?
I’ve had an ambition to sail around the world since my early 20’s. Now aged 57, I think it’s time to start detailed planning my adventure.

Why do I start writing about my ambitions and purpose? I heard Chris Evans talking about a book called Ikigai: The Japanese secret to a long and happy life. I thought this was an interesting view. Being encouraged to develop a purpose, and making small steps of progress has given me hope.
Yes, live for today, appreciate what you have and then you can look to the future with optimism and hope. Perhaps the future will be even better than the past. Let’s strive to make that the case.
Tomorrow my daughter Jasmine will get her GCSE results (aged 16). She has some ambitions and needs to get a pass in English and a pass in maths to keep on track. Whatever the outcome, we will try to move forward with a positive mindset and keep her purpose in mind.
What will be the purpose of my blog?
1) to provide me with a structure for my planning.
2) to share my plans, hopes, ambitions with my family and friends.
3) to remind me of the ups and downs of my time.me of the ups and downs of my time.
And, when the lights finally go out, if as many have said, our lives flash before our eyes, I would like those final images to be filled with joyful memories.
